Wednesday. I have finally met the people who built my lab. They came to fix a panel. I came out of the storeroom to supervise. It went about as well as you would expect.
They are the same company that runs the place, it turns out, with their own design studio and their own factory, where they make the rooms from nothing. Steel, signs, vials, the chamber itself. Every piece of my lab was drawn, cut, painted and wired by them before it went anywhere near a city.
I asked who designed Gerald’s chamber. Several of them pointed at each other. I asked why the vials glow that particular green. One of them said “vibes”. I have written it down as a technical term.
They were very kind about the storeroom. They offered to build me a proper office. I said I would think about it. I have thought about it. I like the storeroom. It has biscuits and a view of everything.
Gerald snarled at the builders the entire time they were working. I think it was gratitude. With Gerald it is often hard to tell.
